Regular classes are held every week, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 8:00pm to 9:30pm, in the Arlington YMCA Multi-purpose Room. Class is open to anyone 13 years or older (younger with permission of the instructor). These are on-going classes that cover a wide range of self-defense techniques, drills, exercises and martial arts development. Beginners, intermediate, and advanced students train together. Visitors are always welcome to come in and observe a class. We have an open door policy.
Family class is held every Saturday from 3pm to 4pm and is open to all children age 8-13 and adults accompanied by their child. This is the same curriculum as the regular adult class (above) with an emphisis on balance, coordination, and self control.
The advanced class is for Brown and Black Belt students only.
In addition to the regularly scheduled classes, the following Saturday Supervised Practices have been scheduled. Unless otherwise noted, this is open-mat time with no formal class presented. Bring your work-sheets and note-books for reference. Pratice is every Saturday 4–6pm.
Several times a year we offer a hands-on workshop in self-defense for women. No previous martial arts training is required or expected. For more information check our Women’s Self Defense page.
The AJA Northeast Regional Shiai is held in Towson. Maryland every July. This is a full day of training and all students are encouraged to attend.
Each year Prof. Kirby holds a weekend training camp in Santa Clarita, California. This year’s training was August 15–17, 2008. The weekend is open to all AJA members. For more information, please check the Professor Kirby’s seminar web page.
Each year, top instructors from all over the country come together to share their arts in the spirit of the warrior way. Camp participants choose from 4 topics per session, 4–85 minute sessions and participate regardless of experience or rank. It’s hands down the best way to see and understand the essence of martial arts from around the world. For more information, please check the Camp Budoshin web page.
On Saturday, November 1, George Kirby will be at the Arlington Dojo to present a half day seminar followed by a self-defense clinic. Click here for more information.
