On November 1st the Arlington YMCA will host an half-day Ju-Jitsu training seminar by Professor George Kirby. During the morning he seminar will cover some of the additions to the Budoshin requirements for Shodan and Nidan. The afternoon will be a self-defense clinic. The seminar is open to anyone with basic Ju-Jitsu training. Cost of the seminar is $45. Seminar size is limited to 32 participants and will run from 9am to 5pm.
Please note: while the initial morning portion of the seminar will focus on some specific upper-rank technical requirements, the seminar is open to and appropriate for anyone one will basic Ju-Jitsu training, specifically ukemi. White belts should check with their instructor.
Prof. George Kirby has been teaching Ju-Jitsu since 1967. He taught at the Burbank YMCA from 1968–75, the Burbank Parks Dept. from 1974–96, and is currently teaching Budoshin Ju-Jitsu classes through the Santa Clarita Parks & Recreation Dept., Santa Clarita, CA. Prof. Kirby is Chairman of the Board of Directors for both the Budoshin Ju-Jitsu Dojo Inc. and the American Ju-Jitsu Association (AJA), he is the U.S. representative for the European Ju-Jitsu Union and the U.S. Vice-President of the International JuJitsu Federaton (IJJF). In addition, Prof. Kirby is also a Defensive Tactics Consultant for the Los Angeles Police Dept.
Professor Kirby’s seminar will be held in the morning, 9am to 1pm. Starting at 2pm in the afternoon, Professor Kirby will preside over a self-defense clinic. Lunch will be provided (1pm to 2pm).
